SOUTHFIELD — Beyond Basics, which provides literacy support programs to schools in Detroit and Pontiac, today announced the appointment of Jack Aronson as Chair Elect to the Beyond Basics Board of Directors. Jack, and his wife, Annette, founded Garden Fresh Gourmet in 1997, and sold the company to Campbell Soup Co. in June 2015.

Currently, Jack is President of Great Fresh Foods, which offers pre-cooked beef, chicken, and turkey burgers, and Clean Planet Proteins, a provider of high-protein, low-fat entrees. Both companies are based in Clinton Township. In addition, the Aronsons recently founded the Artichoke Garlic Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports youth education and food-related charities. Mr. and Mrs. Aronson also help support organizations like Beyond Basics, Boys & Girls clubs, Forgotten Harvest, the Salvation Army, and other causes.

Annette and I know the value of a quality education, and that starts with reading, writing, and word comprehension. Beyond Basics’ one-on-one reading tutoring program ensures that children that need additional support receive the assistance they need. We also are very supportive of Beyond Basics’ art programs and mentoring partnerships between students and successful business professionals.

Jack Aronson

We are honored and blessed to have Jack Aronson take a leadership role with Beyond Basics as we work to meet the literacy needs of children in the Detroit Metropolitan area.
