Beyond Basics Program Offerings

Reading

Program Description

Beyond Basics brings a variety of tutoring programs that assist the student in learning to read.

Students reading below grade level achieve grade level or higher
in 4-6 weeks of intensive one-on-one turtoring.

Seventy students were involved in the reading program.

Program Description

Our writing center consists a on-site student publishing center where we publish the students own stories in hard covered books for them to take home. This year we published 1000 books at Barbara Jordan Elementary.

Philosophy

Students who have not, in some cases, traveled outside their city boundaries gain an expanded awareness of the world around them and the opportunities that exist by participating in a variety of liberal arts, cultural and professional experiences in our Expanding Horizons programs.
