Goal to prepare players for life on and off the field after high school
Detroit, Mich., May 28, 2020 – This summer, 50 football players from 13 Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) high schools will receive access to Beyond Basics’ online tutoring program through the Sound Mind Sound Body Foundation, an effort to help students achieve success on and off the field.
“For many years we have looked to connect our program with student-athletes to help them achieve the highest level of success possible,” said Pamela Good, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Beyond Basics. “We are thrilled to embark on this journey with DPSCD to give student-athletes the tools to take advantage of their opportunities on the field, in the classroom, and for the rest of their lives.”
Through the initiative, the student-athletes will receive ten weeks of tutoring in one of three levels from Beyond Basics, based on their assessment results. All student-athletes in the program will receive one hour of one-on-one tutoring per day, five days a week.
